Overview:
As a Stores Operative, you will be responsible for efficiently managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of stock and components. You will ensure the accurate handling of inventory, maintain optimal stock levels, and support production by providing necessary materials and components. Your role will involve operating in a warehouse environment, utilising stock management systems, and adhering to health and safety standards. A basic understanding of inventory control principles and the ability to work with stock management tools are advantageous
Main duties and responsibilities include:
Order Fulfilment and Dispatch:
- Efficiently pick and pack orders for same-day dispatch for both customers and internal operational requirements.
- Ensure all outbound goods are dispatched as per the correct shipping requirements.
Goods Receipt and Processing:
- Receive purchase materials from suppliers, ensuring any damages or discrepancies are identified and reported immediately to the line manager. Process and store all items as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Receive customer return materials, identify and report any damages or discrepancies to the line manager, and process and store all items as per SOP.
- Ensure all goods received paperwork is signed, dated, and accurately uploaded to relevant systems.
- Load and unload parts and deliveries (Goods In/Out) efficiently and safely, ensuring accurate documentation and storage.
Stock Management:
- Receive completed components into the Production Stores and ensure proper documentation and storage.
- Issue kits to production in a timely and accurate manner.
- House and transport stock correctly, ensuring it is stored in appropriate locations to maintain quality and accessibility.
- Carry out perpetual stock takes as required, accurately counting and recording inventory levels.
- Support the annual stock take by participating in physical counts and reconciliations.
- Return unused components back into stock, ensuring accurate documentation and storage.
- Carry out transactions using a computer-based stock management system, ensuring all entries are accurate and timely.
- Liaise with Production Control regarding stock issues, ensuring prompt communication and resolution.
- Carry out continual improvements within the stores to optimise operations
Housekeeping and Safety:
- Ensure individual workstation and warehouse areas are kept clean and tidy. Ensure all tools and equipment are always stored in the correct locations.
- Perform all manual tasks in accordance with health and safety requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid and in-date forklift license.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team and independently.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment.
- Flexibility and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience using MRP systems is desirable but not essential.
- Good numeracy skills.
- Previous experience with stock movements in a warehouse environment is desirable.
- Understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Experience using computer systems and data entry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office is desirable.
- Ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting set deadlines and maintaining accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability and desire to go ‘above and beyond’.
- Commitment, strong work ethic, and a ‘can do’ attitude.
