SF Recruitment have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer with a leading organisation in Derbyshire. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager this role will play a key part in driving the company's growth and operational efficiency. In this role you will be required to lead special projects which improve processes and introduce cost-saving solutions that deliver benefits to cost, quality and overall performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Own and deliver on company objectives for the Purchasing department, cascading these to the team, and holding regular meetings to report on progress for key projects aligned with strategic business needs.
- Utilize techniques like JIT, Kanban, Blanket POs, and Reschedules to plan, schedule, and monitor goods and services, ensuring timely delivery of materials to support production and distribution.
- Manage inventory and safety stock levels, optimizing service performance while making the most effective use of capital.
- Set up and maintain material, supplier, and planning system data within the MRP/ERP system.
- Actively manage key stakeholder relationships across engineering, production, quality, warehousing, and operations to resolve material issues and react to consumption patterns.
- Analyse data using Excel, creating pivot charts, and reporting on key metrics such as supplier delivery performance.
- Negotiate freight costs, Inco terms, and payment terms to improve margins and cash flow, and achieve competitive pricing in sourcing activities.
- Develop long-term partnerships with suppliers and improve supplier performance, working closely with quality, engineering, and other functions.


Qualifications & Skills
-Experience in material buying and planning within a manufacturing or distribution setting.
- Proficiency in using MRP/ERP systems for supply chain management and inventory control.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office products, particularly Excel, Word, Visio, and Project.
- Excellent communication skills
-Ability to problem solve
-Strong negotiation skills with experience in framework agreements
