Financial Accountant

SF Recruitment are delighted to be working with a high growth service based business based in Birmingham in their search for a technically strong Financial Accountant This is a key hire into the team and requires a detail-oriented accountant with strong experience in VAT and indirect taxation. You will ideally be a fully qualified ACCA/ACA and be confident working in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and submit group VAT returns 
• Monitor and interpret tax legislation, ensuring best practices are followed
• Liaise with HMRC and external auditors on VAT-related matters
• Assist in financial reporting, including month-end and year-end processes
• Produce analysis to contribute to tax packs 
• Support the wider finance team with tax planning and risk mitigation
• Drive process improvements in VAT reporting and compliance

Requirements: 

• Fully qualified ACCA/ACA 
• Advanced Excel skills 
• Experience with VAT, ideally within a large complex business 
• Excellent communication skills
