SF are working with a dynamic and fast growing financial services business in Birmingham City Centre, who are looking for a hands on Credit/collections professional to join and lead the team.

Your new role

The Collections Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing effective collections strategies, maintaining high standards of customer service, and maximising recovery rates while also coordinating and liaising with legal professionals when necessary.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute collections strategies that align with the organisations goals and comply with industry regulations
  • Lead, motivate, and mentor the collections team to achieve performance targets and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee the management of loan portfolios, monitor delinquent accounts, and implement appropriate actions to minimise risk.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess team performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize collections efforts.
  • Ensure that collections activities comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with legal professionals when necessary, coordinating efforts to handle complex cases, litigation, or escalated collection matters.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer relations, working collaboratively with customers to resolve outstanding issues while preserving our business relationships.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on collections performance, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices to enhance collections efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Risk Mitigation: Implement strategies to minimize financial risk through proactive collections activities.



What you'll need

  • Proven experience in leading a Credit/Collections function
  • Experience in managing risk and compliance within a collections environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to business partner with the wider organisation
