Assistant General Ledger Accountant

Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, we are seeking a bright individual with strong communication skills.
Key responsibilities:
Ensure the timely and accurate compliance with VAT, tax and Statutory Account filing deadlines.
Support the production of Management Accounts by delivering allocated tasks on schedule. This will include the production of journals and the associated balance sheet reconciliations to strict deadlines and following through to ensure reconciling items are dealt with promptly.
Also providing support and cover for lease accounting which has a high priority in the business.
Key activities and responsibilities
- Preparation and filing of VAT returns for the UK and liaising with international accounting firms for the filing of overseas VAT returns
- Deal with basic VAT queries
- Supporting manager with lease accounting requirements
- Deal with queries and data requests from internal and external audit, and tax departments as required.
- Complete allocated tasks as part of month end close processes
- Prepare and enter allocated month end journals.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
- Provide additional analysis and documentation as requested by parent company.
We are seeking a part qualified or equivalent candidate with sound knowledge of VAT and some broader finance responsibilities. This role could suit an individual looking to move from a firm of accountants.
